In a story by Janet Lavelle in Sign On San Diego

san-diego walkingSan Diego ranked 15th out of 58 counties last year, siting low smoking rates, preventable hospital stays, and premature death as part of the evaluation.

California’s healthiest counties  were Marin, San Benito, Pacer, Santa Clara, and San Mateo which are also among the wealthiest and best educated.

Five unhealthiest counties include -Trinity, Del Norte, Siskiyou, Lake and Yuba- the residence on average have incomes nearly half of the statewide median and are mainly isolated in areas of Northern California.

Orange County ranked sixth.

It’s clear that income and education are major players in the quality of health and life.

Given the diversity of San Diego over all we are doing pretty good.
